There isn't a thing to write about for these past few months. Besides, I have been "watching" more than I have been "thinking". Guess the first chapter of the "story" I promised to write will be finished near the end of this year. -.- Anyway, these are the things that have kept me busy:
涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)A short, 14-episode anime featuring a teenage philosopher/arhat/boy called Kyon and a god/posthuman/yikes-what's-that who happens to be his classmate in his new school. Her name is Suzumiya Haruhi. Anything more and it will spoil the show =P Exciting and fun to watch...
Personal favourite is episode 11, due to the large amount Gundam (and other science fiction and mecha) references. Loved it when Kyon exclaimed "Ochiro, katonbo!" (reminiscent of Paptimus Scirroco from Kidou Senshi Z Gundam) and of course the modified Zeon cry by the Computer-ken president. "Computer-ken ni eikou are!!" Ah, not to mention the president is dressed like Captain Dessler from Starblazers (Uchuu Senkan Yamato [Space Battleship Yamato]).
∀ガンダム (Called "Turn A Gundam")Beyond what words can describe. In year 2345 of the Correct Century (seireki), 15-year-olds Loran Cehack, Keith Laije and Fran Doll make their way to the now technologically deprived Earth (now regressed to the pre-World War state) for a recon mission in a Moonrace mobile suit. Anime features excellent music and great storytelling. Imagine the "Turn A" sign as V (from Kidou Senshi V Gundam) with a strike across and you'll get what I mean. Yes, great characters, minus the dark events from V Gundam. Turn A Turn, Tsuki no Mayu and Kagirinaki Tabiji are some of the best OPs and EDs I've heard.
Pure Pwnage (pronounced as Pure Ownage)Homemade video based on Toronto, Canada. Meet Jeremy, self-proclaimed "pro gamer". Witness him and his life as both change through a course of events. Be prepared for the surprises at the later episodes. LOL (it's supposed to be a home-made documentary...Kyle makes creative work.) The rest of the information are omitted as they are spoiler intensive. In all, this is an awesome series.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Battletech and Battlefield 2Great games which promote teamwork and roleplaying. Yea I can micro!! (Battletech)
SD Gundam G Generation Advance
Remember the post in which I went into a sales pitch regarding SD Gundam G Generation DS? Well, the GameBoy Advance edition did much better in the music and animation department (in terms of variety). All events and characters are kept within the One Year War which lasted throughout UC0079. We see Kamille Bidan, Uso Evin, Seabook Arno, Judau Ashta and many other characters who weren't in the original UC0079 series appear in the same year as the year when Amuro Ray (first series) started fighting for the Earth Federation.
Story is quite original. It introduces Kira Yamato from Gundam SEED before anyone else, changing SEED's Earth Alliance into the same Earth Federation from the Universal Century. As a result, ZAFT (SEED) became a Coordinator-based branch of the Principality of Zeon (first series) and OZ (Gundam W) is the anti-spacenoid splinter group of the Earth Federation, made up of the Rommfellar Foundation (Gundam W) and Titans (Z Gundam). Of course, Queen Diana (Turn A Gundam) appears in the middle, with the sweet sounding music of "Tsuki no Mayu". She will then lead Diana Counter and the protagonist's crew including Archangel to fight for a peaceful resolution.
Kira (SEED) and Amuro (first series) fought at the same frontline in that game, though for different purposes. The role of the Bright Noa and White Base in the One Year War was instead played by the Murrue Ramius and Archangel, the Pegasus-class cousin from the SEED universe, with Bright Noa still around in the White Base as support. In the desert, we witness more sorrowful events than in either of the series. Ramba Ral, Crowley Hamon, Andrew Waldfeldt and Aisha all at the same time. Instead of Ryu Jose sacrificing his life to defeat the suicidal Gallop, Kira comes in, scoring another unwanted kill. Music from the Gundam movie compilation like "Ai Senshi", "Kaze ni Hitori de" and "Meguriai" were featured along with See-Saw's "Anna ni Isshodatta no ni", the first ED to Gundam SEED.
Raww Le Klueze (SEED) comes out in the Freedom Gundam! Thus we get to see a duel-to-death between Mwu La Fllaga (SEED) and Raww Le Klueze. It's Strike VS Freedom. Sadly, Mwu will still die, just like in the SEED series. Similar to the DS version, Klueze and Mwu are considered Newtypes. Anyway, how did Ginias Sakhalin (The 08th MS Team) get the Devil Gundam cells (G Gundam) for his Gromlin? Did Klueze spread the information of Dark History (Turn A Gundam) through Fllay? Fllay only existed in the DS version...
Loran Cehack (Turn A Gundam) develops an interesting relationship with Cagalli Yula Athna (SEED), Princess of Orb, probably due to them having greatly contrasting personalities. Kamille (Z Gundam) masters his karate skills and emotion control with the Grand Master, Touhou Fuhai (G Gundam). Judau Ashta (ZZ Gundam) and Garrod Ran (Gundam X) fight for the loot as they chance upon the Zeta Gundam in Argama at the same time. Instead of Yzak Jule in Duel Gundam (he is not present in this game, though from the SEED series), Heero Yuy (Gundam W) shows up in Wing Gundam and attacks Kira. Matilda Ajan's team (first series) delivers the Aile Striker Pack for Strike Gundam (SEED), rather than the weird combining machines from the TV version of the First Gundam.
Be it Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala, Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, Loran Cehack and Harry Ord, Cagalli Yula Athna and Sayla Mass, the story melds the characters nicely, along with some Gundam series and characters not introduced in the DS version, which makes this game one of the most valuable pocket G-Gens around.
Ahh thanks for reminding me to stop. I was about to go into a mindless sales pitch again. Anyway, see you when I'm ready to write again.
