Japanese Karaoke! OSU!

Mood: NEKKETSU (Hot-blooded)

It all started with a little suggestion Weesiong made. "Shall we go to the nekketsu karaoke today?" That set us heading for the nearest Internet Cafe. After finding one which charges $1 for 1/2 hour usage, I went straight to my blog's Cbox to find the comment left by Andrew (rei_andrew29) which would point us to the right place.

Apollo Centre, somewhere in Chinatown. Vague enough. We actually thought of going home and coming back the next day with information regarding the location of the karaoke bar. Luckily, I insisted we should head to the Chinatown MRT and look at the road guide. Simple enough, Apollo Centre was in the map. The karaoke bar was waiting for us in the second floor of the shopping arcade, with two entrances (which made us boggle around abit).

The people there were pretty amiable. They got us a room for one-hour usage. My, it has some awesome apparatus! One machine for Japanese songs only and the other machine for everything else. Wish we had taken some pictures. O_O I started off by singing my favourite song of the year: Melos no You ni ~Lonely Way~ by Airmail from Nagasaki. Afterwards, we tried our best to find songs to sing using the huge Yellow Pages-like song catalogues. Songs are arranged by kana, with the song name section being first and the performer name section being the second part of the catalogue. After finding a song each time, we had to key in a 6-digit ID number for the song, and the name of the sing along with its performer(s) will be shown on the LED screen of the machine.

As it was hard to find all the songs we could sing in an hour, we started off with some Ouendan songs. I tried Orange Range's VIVA ROCK. However, I forgot how to rap the first verse... it was quite embarrasing. =P Weesiong tried some Jpop... we promised to learn the songs well before our next time there. After that, we called for some JAM Project songs (GONG, SKILL, Hagane no Messiah). I found it hard to sing a higher octave. Probably I was too tired and we didn't have dinner? That did not stop us from continuing to pick more songs.

At the end of the day, it was the Ouendan songs that kept us going. Well, both of us knew how those songs went by, and we had lots of fun putting all the "OSU!" and "SAN, NI, ICHI" sounds in parts of the song. On my part, I sang Melos no You ni (the opening of SPT Layzner), the JAM Project songs, VIVA ROCK, Garnet Moon, Seventh Moon and Yuusha Raideen while Weesiong sang some Jpop which I have not heard before. They are nice songs though. Too bad there isn't a "Sing-Along" mode in the bar.

LINDA LINDA! LINDA LINDA LINDA~ Total cost was $25.50 ($18 for room, $5 for drink and I guess $2.50 for tax or something.)

There were lots of nekketsu sound energy coming from the other rooms as well. Alas, when we came out from the building's exit, Clarke Quay MRT station's Exit A was waiting for us right across the street. What a detour we made from Chinatown MRT.

Also, I will come up with a song list next time if we were to head there again, to cut down on the time spent to look for songs.

Did I do anything wrong today? -headbangs-

...A dark alley...

Upon turning into this alley from the busy streets, you realize that this area is totally void of light from the streetlamps and noise from the roads. You see a man in crumpled clothing. He wears a torn straw hat.

best viewed in 1024 X 768 resolution. a brief history about the author pertaining to the theme of shadow of transcendence. it came about in the wee hours of the early morning while being whisked away into memories of the past etched deep within the mind. bittersweetness that tingled the tastebuds of her emotions and feelings, the only way out for true liberation from this reality is what is behind the shadow of transcendence; suicide. the taste of iron-rust blood coiled with the lingering bittersweetness is the only contemplation of which the simplicity of life has to offer in exchange for the shadow of transcendence. made in the heavens through one creator, an angel borne to serve man; fell from where it belonged to earth where its purity shadowed by boredom and nohing better to do.
